Opened in 1924, the oldest airport & the largest airport in India, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport is spread over an area of 1,641 acres, located in Dum Dum Kolkata.

8. Dabolim International Airport (GOI)

 

In 1955, Dabolim international airport was constructed by Portugues, function as civilian airport & airbase for the Indian Navy both. This airport is operated by the airport authority of India & owned by the Indian Navy.

By handling more than 2,890,545 passengers in FY 20-21, Dabolim international airport became the eighth busiest airport in India. Located in Dabolim, just 30 Km away from the state capital Panji, Dabolim airport is spread over an area of 1,700 acres. Area wise this airport is one of the largest airport in India.

The new terminal of Dabolim airport was inaugurated in 2013, to handle domestic & international traffic both. 9. Jai Prakash Narayan International Airport (PAT)

 

For the last many years Jai Prakash Narayan International Airport used to rank in 13-15 position, but due to drastic passenger traffic to this airport has made it one of the busiest airport in India. By handling more than 2,710,000 passengers in FY 20-21 this airport became the 9th busiest airport in India.

This airport is located in the capital of Bihar “Patna” as a sandwich between Sanjay Gandhi Javik Udhayn & Phulwari Sharif railway station. In honor of independent activities “Jai Praskha Narayan” this airport got its name.

Although this airport is an international airport yet due to its short runway with length of 7,000 feet, it is restricted for international flights. The length of its runway is 1,938 meters from landing from east & landing from west is 1,677 meters only. The terminal building of this airport currently has capacity to park only six aircraft at a time. To meet its rising demand the Airport Authority of India has an expansion plan for JPNI airport. Under this plan the new terminal building will have a two-storey structure with equipped six aerobridges & an apron area to park 14 aircrafts at a time.
